Isildur (SA 3209-TA 2) eldest son of Elendil was a Numenorian King of Arnor and Gondor. He set sail with the nine faithful from Numenor, taking with him the sapling of The White Tree, his wife, and his son Elendur. Isildur was left in charge of Minis Ithil which became Minas Morgul after an attack from Sauron in SA 3429. In the years after this attack, the Last Alliance of Men and Elves was formed, and war began. At the end of the war, both elves and man laid siege to Barad-dur for seven years, at which point Sauron joined the battle cutting down Elendil and Gil-Galad and breaking Narsil (Elendil’s Sword) Isildur picked up the broken sword and cut the ring from Saurons hand, having decided to keep the ring for himself sets out to deliver the ring to Elrond by Elendur. During this journey his company is set upon by orcs, losing 3 out of 4 of his sons he tries to flee across the river to escape, but the ring slips from his finger and he is killed by orc arrows.
